Jung Jeom-sik calls for special probe into Kim Seung-won allegations

Jung Jeom-sik, floor leader of the People Power Party, has called for a parliamentary investigation and a special prosecutor regarding allegations surrounding Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice. Jung characterized the situation not as simple personal corruption, but as a “gate” involving lobbying and stock price manipulation.

Jung specifically linked the allegations to KH Group, noting that its chairman is closely connected to former Ssangbangwool chairman Kim Seong-tae, who was involved in North Korean remittances and is an Interpol red notice individual. Jung stated that the nominee, intended to be a specialized minister to clear wrongdoing, has instead become a “landmine” for the administration.

Additionally, Jung addressed discussions regarding constitutional amendments, criticizing President Lee Jae-myung for failing to provide clear statements on whether he will seek reelection or resume trials. Jung argued that for constitutional discussions to have sincerity, the President must explicitly state his intentions regarding reelection and legal proceedings.
