Junior Barranquilla interested in Vasco defender Carlos Cuesta

Colombian club Junior Barranquilla has expressed interest in signing defender Carlos Cuesta, who is currently on loan at Vasco da Gama. The 27-year-old Colombian defender belongs to Galatasaray of Turkey, and his current loan agreement with the Brazilian club includes a purchase option valued at approximately 5.75 million euros.

Vasco is reportedly evaluating whether to exercise this purchase option. The club's decision may be influenced by a desire to prioritize other players, such as Robert Renan and Cuiabano. Additionally, Cuesta has recently faced challenges regarding his playing time following the arrival of Pedro Emanuel and is currently recovering from a hip injury.

Junior Barranquilla views Cuesta as a potential key reinforcement for their defensive system, particularly as they prepare for the 2027 Copa Libertadores. If Vasco decides not to purchase the player, he could either move to the Colombian side or return to Turkish football.
