Junior de Barranquilla players targeted in supporter vandalism
Supporters of the Colombian football club Junior de Barranquilla engaged in acts of vandalism following a draw against Deportivo Pereira. Members of the supporter group ‘Los Kuervos’ targeted the administrative headquarters of the club and the personal vehicles of players Jesús David Rivas and Guillermo Paiva.
During the incident, protesters forced the players to exit their vehicles, shouted recriminations, and used spray paint to deface the cars and the club's building facade. The vandalism included messages alleging a lack of commitment from the players.
In response, Junior de Barranquilla issued a statement categorically rejecting the violence and emphasizing that sporting dissatisfaction does not justify attacks on the integrity of players or club property. Following the incident, Paraguayan striker Guillermo Paiva is reportedly considering accelerating his departure from the club at the end of 2026.
