Junior Golf: Xu and Liu lead opening rounds of Canadian championships

The opening rounds of the 2026 Canadian Junior Boys and Girls Championships have concluded, with several notable performances on the leaderboards.

In the Junior Boys Championship at Wascana Country Club in Regina, Saskatchewan, Hongzhao (Thomas) Xu holds the solo lead after shooting a 5-under 67. Xu recorded seven birdies, including four consecutive birdies on holes 3 through 6. Charly Pinel sits two shots back after carding an albatross on hole 12.

In the Junior Girls Championship at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in Caledon, Ontario, two-time defending champion Shauna Liu is among four players tied for the lead. Liu recovered from an early start of three consecutive bogeys to finish with a 2-under 69. She shares the lead with Kirra St-Laurent, who also posted a 2-under 69.
