Junior Sornoza renews contract with Independiente del Valle

Independiente del Valle has officially announced the contract renewal of midfielder Junior Sornoza. The 32-year-old player has signed an extension for two additional seasons, keeping him with the Sangolquí-based club until December 2028.

Sornoza is a historic figure for the institution, being the only current player to have remained with the club since the 2016 Copa Libertadores final. Throughout his various stints with the team, he has amassed over 330 appearances, contributing 105 goals and 84 assists. His trophy cabinet includes the Copa Sudamericana, Recopa Sudamericana, Liga Ecuabet, Copa Ecuador, and the Supercopa de Ecuador.

The renewal follows Sornoza’s previous public statements regarding his desire to finish his professional career at the club that formed him. The club celebrated the announcement on social media, stating, “Two more years of magic. Two more years guiding the way.”
