Junior World Open Water Swimming Championships begin in Santa Fe
The Junior World Open Water Swimming Championships have commenced at the Parque del Sur Lake in Santa Fe, Argentina. The event features a record-breaking participation of 273 athletes representing 39 different countries.
In the opening 10-kilometer race for older juniors, Hungary’s Mate Karpati secured the gold medal, followed by Colin Jacobson of the USA in second and Arthur Aguiar of Brazil in third. Czech swimmer Petr Morávek finished in 12th place. In the younger junior category, Hungarian swimmers achieved a double victory, with Bálint Kreisz winning gold and Armand Attila Marosszekei taking second.
The competition is scheduled to run through September 6 and includes various distances, such as 5-kilometer races, 7.5-kilometer races, 3-kilometer knockout sprints, and 4 x 1500-meter mixed relays.
