Junín advances collaborative groundwater monitoring network
Stakeholders in Junín are advancing the Water Management Program, which aims to establish a collaborative network for monitoring groundwater levels. A recent training session held at the UNNOBA “Las Magnolias” Experimental Field included representatives from the Universidad Nacional del Noroeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (UNNOBA), the Fundación Ciudad Abierta, the Sociedad Rural de Junín, and INTA, alongside agricultural producers and engineers.
Hydraulic engineer Marcelo Rastelli presented a mapping of the Junín district, outlining a plan to set strategic measurement points based on basin configuration, watercourses, and terrain altitude. The initiative seeks to create a sustained and reliable database through constant, collaborative data collection from local producers and institutions. This technical information is intended to improve planning and decision-making regarding water dynamics and potential flood scenarios.
