Junín celebrates winner of ninth La Receta de la Abuela contest

María Luisa Giménez has been named the winner of the ninth edition of ‘La Receta de la Abuela’ (Grandmother’s Recipe) in Junín. Her winning dish, Ordu Yaglisi Oriental, will represent the department in the upcoming provincial competition.

The event, held at the Centro de Promoción para Personas con Discapacidad within the Parque Recreativo Dueño del Sol, aims to preserve gastronomic traditions and honor the culinary knowledge passed down through generations. Organizers noted a significant increase in male participation this year, highlighting the initiative's role in promoting empathy and respect for older adults.

The contest was organized by the Municipality of Junín in collaboration with the Provincial Directorate of Older Adults and IES 9-021. Local officials, including Mayor Mario Abed and Provincial Senator Natalia Rabite, attended the ceremony to celebrate the preservation of family identity and culinary heritage.
