Junquillal, Ecuador crowns Tamy Flores as new parish queen

Junquillal in the Salitre canton of Ecuador marked its 34th anniversary of parish status with a ceremony that crowned 18‑year‑old Tamy Flores Pérez as the new queen. The event was led by GAD president Alfredo Vera Braco and attended by mayor Milton Moreno Pérez, who also announced the construction of a modern malecón. Festivities, including a parade, orchestras and a popular dance, will continue through August 26.

In a separate municipal ceremony, DIF Municipal named Norma Angélica Liñán Ramos as Reina del Adulto Mayor 2026. The coronation, overseen by mayor Jacobo Rodríguez and DIF director Sonia Anel Pérez, honored ten senior women, also awarding titles of princess and duchess, and highlighted ongoing programs aimed at improving the wellbeing of older adults.
