Junta Central Electoral to hold mobile ID operations in Atlantic City
The Dominican Central Electoral Board (JCE) will conduct two mobile identification operations in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 22nd and 23rd. The activities will take place at Unite Here Local 54, located at 1014 Atlantic Avenue, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., to provide identity document issuance and renewal services to the local Dominican community.
To obtain the new document, residents must present their previous ID or a valid Dominican passport. A birth certificate may also be required for first-time applicants or for data validation. The renewal process is free of charge. This initiative is part of a broader effort to transition citizens to a new ID format before the current version becomes invalid on April 1, 2027.
Jesús Vásquez, the Dominican Consul in New York, noted that the establishment of any foreign government offices on U.S. territory requires prior authorization from the U.S. Department of State. Once such permissions are granted, the JCE may expand its services and install permanent offices in various locations.
