Junta de Andalucía to open registry office in Jerez
The Junta de Andalucía has confirmed its intention to open an Office of Assistance in Matters of Administration Registries (OAMR) in Jerez. This decision follows efforts by the CSIF union, which had previously brought the matter to the Andalusian Ombudsman.
The regional Ministry of Justice, Local Administration, and Public Function stated that space and furniture in a Junta-owned building in Jerez are already available. The next steps involve staffing the office by modifying the current Job Position Relationship and training the necessary civil servants. According to official timelines, the office could be operational by the end of this year.
CSIF has been advocating for this office for two years, noting that the absence of in-person registry services harms citizens in Jerez and surrounding areas, such as the Sierra de Cádiz, by widening the digital divide. Since the implementation of administrative simplification laws, the lack of a dedicated office has forced tax agency staff to handle registry duties, impacting their primary functions.
