Junta de Extremadura to review school transport contracts

The Junta de Extremadura and transport companies are scheduled to meet at the end of September to review school transport contracts for the upcoming academic year. The meeting aims to address systemic issues following a summer period where the education department had to rely on successive emergency contracts to ensure service continuity.

Etransa, representing transport entrepreneurs, intends to propose changes that extend beyond mere price adjustments. The organization is seeking a revision of contract conditions and current regulations, which they describe as ‘obsolete’ due to being over 20 years old. They aim to adapt the service to modern realities, including current vehicle standards, operational costs, fuel prices, and wages, to avoid the need for emergency measures in the future.
