Junts demands full tax collection rights for Catalonia

Míriam Nogueras, the Junts candidate for Congress in Barcelona, has established the full collection and management of Catalan taxes as a non-negotiable condition for any post-election pacts following the November 29 elections.

During a campaign event in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Nogueras proposed a fiscal model similar to the Basque Country, where local authorities collect all taxes and transfer a specific amount to the state. This would grant the Generalitat complete control over the destination of its funds, moving away from the current system where the Spanish Tax Agency manages collections and distributes funds based on the regional financing model.

Nogueras criticized the current management of funds from Madrid, claiming that the Spanish government invests three times more per inhabitant in Madrid than in Catalonia. She positioned Junts as the only party with strict obedience to Catalan interests, contrasting her stance with other parties that she suggested prioritize national interests over regional ones.
