Junts party challenges Salvador Illa over Catalan interests
The Junts party intends to present a motion to the Catalan Parliament next week, seeking a formal recognition that the regional government has failed to defend Catalan interests against the Spanish executive. The party accuses President Salvador Illa of subordinating his institutional responsibilities to political loyalty toward Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
Junts further claims that the Sánchez administration has failed to meet commitments regarding fiscal deficits, infrastructure investment, and the transfer of Rodalies rail services.
Separately, the ERC party is proposing the creation of a mandatory Catalan minimum wage, set at 60% of the average salary, to promote a more equitable economic model. ERC is also calling for the full transfer of labor inspection and social security responsibilities to the regional government.
