Junya Ito sets Japan national team assist record

Junya Ito has set a new record for the Japan national team, becoming the player with the most assists in the history of the Samurai Blue. During a friendly match against Venezuela, the 33-year-old winger provided an assist for Ayase Ueda, marking his 29th assist for the national side.

Ito, who plays for KRC Genk, reached this milestone during his 75th international appearance. While Genk has experienced a volatile start to the season, currently sitting in ninth place, the club expressed pride in Ito’s historic achievement.
