Juraj Ondrejčák withdraws request for prison transfer
Juraj Ondrejčák, the convicted former leader of the Bratislava-based Piťovci criminal group, has withdrawn his request to be transferred from a medium-security prison to a low-security facility.
Following the withdrawal of the proposal by Ondrejčák’s defense counsel, the Bratislava I City Court canceled a public hearing that was scheduled for August 20, 2026. The matter had previously been sent to the Specialized Criminal Court by prosecutors, but the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic ultimately returned the decision-making authority to the municipal court.
Ondrejčák, known as ‘Piťo’, is serving a sentence of 21 years and four months for crimes including membership in a criminal group, the murder of Ľuboslav Velk, and the attempted murder of Ján Takáč. The Piťovci group, which operated out of the Lamač district, was known for its military-style organization and emerged in the late 1990s.
