Jure Colja resigns from SDS and withdraws Koper mayoral candidacy

Jure Colja, a long-standing member of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) and current municipal councilor in Koper, has resigned from all party functions. His departure also includes the withdrawal of his candidacy for the mayor of Koper and his position as a list leader for the municipal council.

Colja, who joined the SDS in 2007 at the age of 15, cited personal reasons for his decision and stated he would not disclose further details out of respect for the party. Despite leaving the SDS, he expressed his intention to remain active in the local community and on the ground with citizens.

During his tenure, Colja was elected to the Koper municipal council in 2022. He noted that he had submitted over 90 council initiatives and questions during his term. He had previously been a confirmed candidate for the upcoming local elections and had worked with a team to prepare an election program.
