Juárez mayor reports crime decline in binational security meeting

Municipal President Cruz Pérez Cuéllar chaired a security coordination meeting in Juárez, presenting recent police results. Officials reported 171 arrests for common crimes, seven for federal offenses, the seizure of six short‑firearms, 22 cartridges and 110 doses of drugs, as well as the recovery of 12 stolen vehicles. The city’s fire department handled 257 calls, including 51 fires and multiple rescues, while the rescue service attended to 105 incidents involving injuries, illnesses and other emergencies.

The municipal Secretariat of Public Security highlighted that May recorded the lowest homicide count in nine years, attributing the drop to strengthened preventive strategies and ongoing binational cooperation with U.S. agencies. Continuous intelligence sharing and joint operational planning were cited as key factors in sustaining the region’s improved security environment.
