Ajax secures 1-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in Eredivisie clash

Ajax defeated AZ Alkmaar 1-0 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA to climb to second place in the Eredivisie, trailing leaders Feyenoord by just one point. Tolu Arokodare scored the decisive goal in the ninth minute, heading in a cross from Abdellah Ouazane.

Despite the win, Ajax faced a significant setback when midfielder Julian Brandt was forced off in the 38th minute due to a non-contact injury. While the exact nature of the injury remains unconfirmed, his absence could impact the team's offensive structure.

AZ Alkmaar, who had not lost to Ajax in their previous eleven encounters, increased pressure in the second half but failed to find an equalizer. Marc-André ter Stegen made key saves in stoppage time to secure the clean sheet for the Amsterdam side. The result leaves AZ in fifth place.
