Jurica Kezić monographic exhibition to open in Split

The Galerija umjetnina in Split will host a monographic exhibition titled ‘Tlo slike’ (The Ground of the Painting) by artist Jurica Kezić. The exhibition is scheduled to open on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 20:00.

The event commemorates two significant milestones: the 90th anniversary of Jurica Kezić’s birth and the 70th anniversary of his first solo exhibition, which took place in Split in 1956. Curated by Dalibor Prančević, the exhibition marks the first solo showing of Kezić’s work in over thirty years.

The collection explores Kezić’s evolution from landscape-based painting to a focus on structure, memory, and the physical properties of matter. The works examine the tension between nature and human intervention, as well as the interplay between order and disorder through the use of layers, textures, and erosion.
