Jurica Žuža appointed assistant coach of FC Barcelona basketball team

Croatian basketball veteran Jurica Žuža, 48, has joined FC Barcelona's basketball coaching staff as assistant to head coach Aleksander Sekulić. Sekulić, who signed a two‑year contract with the Catalan club, brought Žuža along after years of collaboration in the Czech Republic (Nymburk), Russia (Lokomotiv Kuban and Zenit) and a recent stint in Dubai where Sekulić won the regional ABA League. Barcelona president Joan Laporta praised the appointment, noting the club’s motto “Més que un club.” Žuža said he feels “great honor and responsibility” to help lead the team, and will take charge of training sessions when Sekulić is away with the Slovenian national team.

The move marks a significant step for the Croatian coach, who previously coached in his hometown Zadar before moving abroad, and underscores Barcelona’s intent to strengthen its EuroLeague ambitions.
