Just Eat apologizes for inaccurate AI-generated food images
Just Eat has issued an apology following reports of inaccurate AI-generated images on its platform. The company stated it would remove incorrect images and halt the production of new ones until the technology is further developed.
Reports highlighted instances where AI-generated visuals confused regional dishes with unrelated foods, such as a Belfast cafe’s bacon and egg soda bread being depicted as bacon and eggs in a soft drink. These inaccuracies pose challenges for restaurant operators, as customers rely on menu photography to make purchasing decisions. When images fail to represent the actual food prepared by a kitchen, it can lead to customer dissatisfaction and complaints regarding unmet expectations.
