Justice Alexandre de Moraes orders inclusion of messages that may expose journalist sources

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the Federal Police to include communications in an ongoing investigation that could potentially identify the journalistic sources of a reporter in Maranhão.

The decision follows a formal warning from a Federal Police delegate, who argued that disclosing such information would violate the constitutional guarantee of source confidentiality. The investigation involves journalist Luís Pablo Conceição Almeida, who is being scrutinized for alleged persecution of Minister Flávio Dino following reports regarding the use of official vehicles by the minister's relatives.

While acknowledging constitutional protections, Moraes stated there are indications that the journalist may have committed the crime of persecution. The Federal Police previously noted they had withheld certain dialogues to protect informant identities, but the Justice has mandated their inclusion within 48 hours.
