Justice Department probes potential conspiracy regarding Mar-a-Lago search
Justice Department investigators are seeking voluntary interviews with law enforcement officials regarding the 2022 FBI search of Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. This effort is part of a Florida-based inquiry aimed at establishing whether there was a conspiracy against the Republican president.
The investigation appears to be expanding its scope. While previously focused on Russian interference in the 2016 election, investigators are now examining contemporary events, specifically the seizure of top-secret documents from the Palm Beach estate.
While it remains unclear if prosecutors intend to bring charges, investigating conduct in Florida may provide the legal basis for a prosecution within that state. Joe DiGenova, the prosecutor overseeing the investigation, declined to comment, and the Justice Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
