Justice Expedition Brings Essential Services to Vila Picada Border Community

The second edition of the Justice Expedition (Expedição Justiça Sem Fronteiras) was conducted in Vila Picada, a remote community in Porto Esperidião, Mato Grosso, Brazil, 323 km from Cuiabá. Organized by the Mato Grosso State Court’s Community Justice program, the two‑day event at the Dona Lila Hill de Souza Municipal School offered citizens on the Brazil‑Bolivia frontier access to documentation, pension benefits, social assistance, health guidance and other public services without traveling long distances.

Residents benefited directly: 90‑year‑old pensioner Rafaela Chue Suquere Tossue received help resolving a stalled retirement payment; 60‑year‑old Antonio Muquissai advanced his retirement filing with INSS support; and Bolivian families living in Brazil secured CPF numbers and regularized personal documents for themselves and their Brazilian children. The outreach highlighted how localized judicial and social‑service collaboration can ease bureaucratic hurdles for isolated border populations.
