Justice Minister Carlo Nordio Threatened by Red Brigades‑style Graffiti in Rome

On the night of 29‑30 July 2026 a red‑spray graffiti reading “Nordio ti metto dentro una R4”, signed with the star‑five and the initials “Br”, was found on a wall at via Portuense, civico 473, near the Villa Bonelli Carabinieri station in Rome. The message alludes to the red Renault 4 in which Aldo Moro’s body was recovered on 9 May 1978, invoking the legacy of the Red Brigades.

The Justice Minister’s security detail, already at the highest level, was placed on maximum alert and patrols around via Arenula were increased. Carabinieri from the Villa Bonelli station intervened early the next morning, began investigations and are reviewing video‑surveillance footage.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, President Sergio Mattarella, Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, regional president Luca Zaia and other political leaders publicly condemned the intimidation, expressing full solidarity with Nordio and stating that the State will not retreat in the face of such threats.
