Justice Minister Gürlek addresses International Justice Summit

At the International Justice Summit held at Çırağan Palace under the theme ‘The Future of Justice: A Common Responsibility for Humanity’, Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek emphasized that justice is a fundamental right for all humans rather than a privilege for the powerful.

Gürlek noted that the rapid transformation of the world—driven by wars, mass migration, artificial intelligence, and cybercrime—requires enhanced global cooperation and more effective international legal mechanisms. He criticized the current international legal order, stating that one of its greatest tests is the attempt by powerful nations to create ‘law definitions adorned with lies’ to favor their own interests.

The Minister specifically cited the situation in Gaza as a concrete example of this imbalance. He noted that Palestinian Justice Minister Sherhabil El-Zaim was invited to the summit but was prevented from attending by Israeli authorities. Gürlek expressed hope that the participating justice ministers and attendees would strongly support the legal and justice demands of the Palestinian people.
