Justice Minister Moussa Sarr meets with social advocacy collective

The Ànd Sàmm Jikko Yi collective, representing 117 associations, met with Justice Minister Moussa Sarr to discuss social issues including family protection, childhood, and homosexuality. The delegation expressed support for recent legislative actions increasing criminal sanctions for acts deemed against nature.

During the meeting, the collective raised concerns regarding the dismissal of charges against 28 individuals in the Pikine-Guédiawaye case, noting that the decision might cause public misunderstanding. In response, Minister Sarr clarified that the prosecution has appealed the partial dismissal by the investigating judge, and the case has been moved to the indictment chamber for further review.

Regarding homosexuality, the Minister stated that the issue remains a government priority and affirmed that the state will continue to enforce the provisions of the penal code.
