Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov says Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council to be renewed by fall

Justice Minister Nikolay Naydenov told Nova News that a new composition of the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) should be in place by the autumn. He said the council must begin the procedures to elect a new chief prosecutor and a new chair of the Supreme Administrative Court, with both processes expected to finish early next year.

Naydenov also referred to the recent criticism by Prime Minister Rumen Radev over the prosecution of the VIK‑Burgas case, noting that three prosecutors from the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office had recused themselves because no evidence linked any persons with immunity. He warned that delays and possible influences have hampered the investigation, citing concerns about dependencies, “Hem​usgate” irregularities in highway projects, and the need for transparent review of case files.
