Justice Minister Shasivari and UNICEF discuss child justice reforms

North Macedonia's Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, held a working meeting with UNICEF representative Lesli Miller to discuss improvements to the justice system for children. The discussions focused on ensuring the best interests of the child remain a priority, in alignment with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The new law emphasizes the need for specialized training for legal professionals to ensure the proper treatment and protection of children who are victims or witnesses of violence and crime. Additionally, the meeting addressed the application of restorative justice approaches and the importance of secondary legislation to provide clear procedures and standards for the law's practical implementation.
