Justice Samuel Alito discloses international travel and energy stocks

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito has released his annual financial disclosure, which includes reports of international travel and continued holdings in energy companies. The filing, released following a 90-day extension, shows Alito earned $33,333 in royalties from Hachette Book Group for his upcoming book, “So Ordered: An Originalist’s View of the Constitution, the Court, and Our Country,” scheduled for publication on October 6.

The disclosure details several international trips funded by nonprofit organizations, including a forum in Rome, Italy, and a rule of law forum in the United Kingdom.

Notably, Alito maintains significant individual stock holdings in various energy and resource companies, including ConocoPhillips, Phillips 66, and Woodside Energy. He also reported a mineral interest in Grady County, Oklahoma, valued between $100,001 and $250,000. These holdings come as the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear Suncor Energy (U.S.A.) Inc. v. County Commissioners of Boulder County, a case involving whether local governments can sue polluters for climate damage.
