Justin Andres Asprilla Caicedo funeral held in Terni after drowning in Lake Bolsena
The funeral of 22‑year‑old Justin Andres Asprilla Caicedo is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the cathedral of Terni, Italy. Caicedo, a Colombian national who lived in Terni and had recently graduated from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, died on 22 July after a swimming accident on Lake Bolsena. He and a group of friends had rented a motorboat to reach the area opposite Bisentina Island. Around 12:40 p.m. he entered the water, soon showed signs of distress and failed to surface. Friends rescued him, and emergency services—including a helicopter, ambulance, ambulance‑car, medical staff and Carabinieri—performed resuscitation with a public defibrillator, but he could not be revived.
The Viterbo Prosecutor’s Office opened an involuntary homicide (omicidio colposo) investigation against unknown persons, a procedural step to allow technical‑scientific inquiries. An autopsy is awaited to determine the precise cause of death.
