Justin Trudeau launches Hope & Hard Work production company
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his former Chief of Staff, Katie Telford, have launched a new multidisciplinary media and entertainment company called Hope & Hard Work. The announcement was made at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The company aims to develop and produce content across film, television, audio, and live experiences, with a focus on Canadian stories intended for global audiences. In a joint statement, Trudeau and Telford expressed a belief in the power of storytelling to foster empathy and connection in a divided world.
The company’s current development slate includes an adaptation of Perry Chafe’s novel ‘Closer by Sea’ and an adaptation of Uzma Jalaluddin’s ‘Detective Aunty’, for which Trudeau and Telford will serve as executive producers alongside Neshama Entertainment. Additionally, Hope & Hard Work has established a strategic partnership with Earth Tones to lead its unscripted division, focusing on documentaries and docuseries. The enterprise is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment.
