Justin Verlander hopes for final mound appearance during Tigers celebration

Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander expressed hope that he can make a final appearance on the mound during the team’s two-day career celebration scheduled for the final weekend of the regular season.

Verlander, 43, announced his retirement in July while currently managing left hip and left hamstring injuries. He has made only one appearance for Detroit this season on March 30 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

While he remains optimistic about his recovery and recent progress in the bullpen, Verlander noted he is not yet certain if he can participate in the upcoming festivities on September 25 or 26 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He emphasized the importance of managing his injuries carefully to avoid further setbacks.
