Justin Verlander retires from MLB after 21-season career

MLB legend Justin Verlander has officially retired from professional baseball after a 21-season career. During his final game with the Detroit Tigers against the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 26, Verlander experienced an emotional farewell when his seven-year-old daughter, Genevieve, ran onto the field during his final pitching change.

In a recent interview, Verlander reflected on the significance of the moment, noting that the end of his career felt like the conclusion of a life that had revolved around the sport since childhood. He expressed a sense of fulfillment, stating that he felt he had ‘ran my race and gave everything I had to the game.’

Following his retirement, Verlander and his wife, Kate Upton, continue to reside in New York, where they maintain a penthouse on the Upper East Side. The couple, who have two children, have also managed a significant real estate portfolio, including the previous sale of a Beverly Hills estate for $11 million.
