Justin Welby visits Plateau State to meet Governor Mutfwang

Justin Welby, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, visited Jos in Plateau State, Nigeria, to meet with Governor Caleb Mutfwang and various political and religious leaders. The visit included meetings at the Plateau State Government House with the Governor, Deputy Governor Josephine Piyo, and other dignitaries, including members of the National and State Assemblies.

The former head of the Church of England arrived in the state as the regional government continues to address security challenges and promote peace and reconciliation among diverse communities. The visit follows a similar engagement in February, where Welby met with Governor Uba Sani in Kaduna State to discuss unity and reconciliation.

Governor Mutfwang’s administration has prioritized peacebuilding and regional cooperation to manage communal tensions and insecurity in the North-central region. The meeting with Welby highlights the intersection of religious leadership and governance in efforts to maintain social stability and foster interfaith relations within the state.
