European Union criticizes Serbia over Banjska attack investigation
The European Union has criticized Serbia for failing to take necessary steps to arrest and prosecute Milan Radoičić and others accused of the September 2023 armed attack in Banjska, Zvečan. EU spokesperson Christian Wiegand expressed concern regarding reports of Radoičić’s participation in a pre-election meeting of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), led by Aleksandar Vučić.
The EU is calling for full cooperation through established legal mutual assistance channels, noting that the matter has been delayed for a long time. While the Belgrade High Public Prosecutor's Office stated that investigations into Radoičić are ongoing, no indictment has yet been filed for the September 24, 2023, attack, which resulted in the death of a Kosovo police officer and three attackers. Radoičić previously accepted responsibility for organizing the attack and resigned from his position in the Serb List.
