Justiniano Montero Montero elected to lead Dominican Republic Supreme Court
The National Council of the Magistracy, led by President Luis Abinader, has unanimously selected Justiniano Montero Montero to preside over the Supreme Court of Justice in the Dominican Republic.
Montero has been a member of the high court since April 2019 and previously served as the president of the First Chamber, which handles civil and commercial matters. In September, he was confirmed as a judge for an additional seven years following a performance evaluation. His appointment is viewed as a move toward strengthening judicial independence and institutional stability within the country.
