Justo Aurelio tied to La Barredora laundering of Yucatán hospital contracts
Federal authorities have identified Justo Aurelio R. P. as a key financial operator for the criminal network known as “La Barredora,” linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). Companies associated with him obtained multimillion‑peso public contracts to supply medicines and equipment to the new Hospital Agustín O’Horán in Yucatán, raising allegations of corruption and money‑laundering.
Investigators seized assets valued at roughly 145 million pesos, including 15 luxury sports cars, firearms, ammunition, cash in US dollars, jewelry, electronic banking devices, and a large cache of digital storage media. The operation is said to have funneled illicit funds into political campaigns of the Morena party in Yucatán and involved figures such as former Chiapas governor Rutilio Escandón and politician Adán Augusto López Hernández. The case highlights the use of public‑health procurement to move cartel money and underscores ongoing federal efforts to dismantle organized‑crime financial networks in Mexico.
