Jutphaas and Nieuwegein infrastructure evolution

A historical comparison highlights the transformation of the area around Jutphaas and Nieuwegein. In 1924, workers manually installed electricity along the Nedereindseweg in Jutphaas, a period characterized by manual tools and a lush, green landscape featuring prominent trees and tram rails.

In contrast, recent infrastructure work at the Merwedekanaal near Herenstraat in Nieuwegein involved Rijkswaterstaat and construction company Hakkers BV. This project focused on replacing sections of the old quay due to deteriorating foundations that no longer met safety standards.
