Juul Labs faces regulatory uncertainty over flavored pods

Juul Labs is navigating a complex regulatory landscape in the United States following years of scrutiny from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). After the company voluntarily removed popular flavors like mango and crème in 2019 due to concerns regarding youth nicotine addiction, the FDA issued marketing denial orders for Juul products in 2022.

Following legal challenges and reviews, the FDA rescinded those bans in mid-2024, though the agency clarified that this rescission does not constitute formal authorization. While the original mango-flavored pods face significant regulatory hurdles, the market is seeing the emergence of alternative mango-flavored vaping products and potential reformulated options that may meet health protection standards.
