Juvenile crime in the islands falls by 20 percent

According to a report from the specialized Prosecutor's Office, juvenile crime in the islands saw a significant decrease during 2025. Total infractions, including both serious and minor offenses, dropped by approximately 20 percent, falling from 4,504 cases to 3,607.

Notable declines were recorded in serious crimes, such as homicides or attempted homicides, which fell from ten to three cases. Domestic violence incidents decreased from 225 to 201, and gender-based violence among minors dropped from 96 to 86 reports. Other decreases were noted in hate crimes and certain traffic violations.

Conversely, some crime categories saw increases. Sexual assaults rose by 42 percent, increasing from 257 to 365 cases. Reports of school bullying more than doubled, rising from 6 to 13 cases. Additionally, minor offenses against property and against persons showed significant increases, while cases of physical injury grew by 3.2 percent.
