Juvenile discusses the legacy of New Orleans hip-hop

Southern rap icon Juvenile has reflected on the enduring legacy of New Orleans-based Cash Money Records and its role in expanding hip-hop beyond its New York City origins. In a recent interview for the Urban ONE Originals series, VOICES, Juvenile discussed how the regional sound pioneered by the label continues to influence contemporary artists.

Juvenile addressed the potential for a Cash Money x No Limit tour and discussed his place within the history of New Orleans hip-hop, noting how these labels shifted the city's musical narrative from jazz to rap. Regarding his own career longevity, he stated, “I was never finished,” adding that while he has nothing left to prove to himself or his family, he still has much to say musically.
