Juvenile reveals he nearly rejected recording ‘Back That Thang Up’

In a recent interview on Ryan Cameron Uncensored, rapper Juvenile revealed that he initially resisted recording his hit song, ‘Back That Thang Up’. The artist expressed concerns that the track, which leaned heavily into New Orleans bounce music, might undermine his reputation as a lyricist.

Producer Mannie Fresh ultimately encouraged the recording. The 1998 track went platinum and became a defining anthem of Southern rap. Juvenile is scheduled to participate in the upcoming Cash Money x No Limit tour this fall.
