Juventus coach Spalletti previews Palermo friendly and squad updates

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti has provided updates on his squad ahead of a pre-season friendly against Palermo. Following a recent match against Inter, Spalletti expressed satisfaction with his team’s second-half performance, noting that they played “fast, attractive football” despite falling behind 2-0.

Regarding squad selection, Spalletti confirmed that Mattia Perin will start in goal for the upcoming match against Palermo. Federico Gatti will be rested due to muscle fatigue and is expected to play no more than 20 to 30 minutes if needed. Spalletti also addressed the status of Douglas Luiz, stating that the player's future remains a focus but he will likely remain with the club this year.

Spalletti emphasized the importance of the pre-season period to “perfect ourselves” as the team prepares for the 2026-27 Serie A campaign. He also praised Palermo’s coach, Filippo Inzaghi, ahead of their encounter.
