Juventus faces Inter in defender‑transfer tussle over Solet, Lucumí and Stones

Italian clubs Juventus and Inter are engaged in a competitive market for central defenders. Juventus has revived interest in French centre‑back Oumar Solet, previously pursued by Inter, and is also evaluating the availability of former Manchester City defender John Stones, whose high wages pose a financial obstacle. The club is also monitoring other options such as Bosnian defender Muharemović and retains a 50 % future‑sale clause on certain players.

Inter, meanwhile, has shifted focus to Colombian centre‑back Jhon Lucumí from Bologna, who carries a €28 million release clause. The Nerazzurri also continue to assess Solet but have stepped back due to price concerns. Both sides are discussing the sale of surplus players – Juventus looking to offload Frattesi and Inter seeking a buyer for Cambiaso – to balance their budgets and fund incoming transfers.

Sunderland has entered the conversation for some of the same targets, adding further complexity to the negotiations.
