Juventus intensify pursuit of free‑agent defender John Stones

Juventus FC have moved from preliminary interest to serious negotiations with England centre‑back John Stones, who became a free agent after his contract with Manchester City expired in June 2026. The Serie A club is exploring the conditions of a potential deal and has made direct contact with Stones and his representatives, according to Sky Sport Italia and transfer reporter Luca Bendoni.

Stones, 32, helped England secure third place at the 2026 World Cup and spent ten seasons at Manchester City, winning multiple Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League. His recent injury record, which limited his final season to nine league starts, is a concern for Juventus, who need a new central defender if they sell Gleison Bremer. Other clubs, including Inter, Napoli and several Premier League sides, have also expressed interest, but Juventus appear to be the most advanced in talks.
