Juventus signs Guglielmo Vicario on loan from Tottenham

Juventus has officially completed the signing of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham Hotspur on a season-long loan. The deal includes an option to purchase the 29-year-old Italian international for approximately €10 million (£8.5 million). Vicario, who previously played for Empoli and Cagliari, arrives in Turin to bolster the squad under manager Luciano Spalletti following a period of uncertainty regarding the club's goalkeeping position.

In his first interview, Vicario described the move as a “lifelong dream,” citing legendary goalkeeper Gigi Buffon as his primary inspiration. The transfer follows Juventus's unsuccessful pursuit of other targets, including Emiliano Martinez and Zion Suzuki. At Tottenham, Vicario had made 117 appearances and was part of the squad that won the Europa League in 2025, though he recently lost his starting role to Antonin Kinsky.

The arrival of Vicario has triggered potential movement for other Juventus players. Michele Di Gregorio is reportedly being considered for a loan, which may necessitate further signings such as Mattia Perin or Emil Audero to maintain depth. Additionally, defender Federico Gatti missed recent training due to an ankle injury sustained during a fan pitch invasion at the Allianz Stadium.
