Juventus agrees to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham

Juventus has reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur to sign goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on an initial season-long loan. The deal includes an option to purchase the 29-year-old Italian international for approximately €10 million. Vicario, who previously played for Empoli, is expected to join the Turin-based club to serve as their new number one under manager Luciano Spalletti.

The move follows the collapse of negotiations between Juventus and Aston Villa for Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. Disagreements over valuation, with Villa reportedly seeking upwards of €10 million and Juventus offering significantly less, led the Italian club to pivot to Vicario.

As a result of these shifts, Aston Villa is moving forward with the signing of 23-year-old Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki from Parma for a fee reported to be between €30 million and €35 million. Suzuki’s arrival is expected to challenge Martínez’s starting position at Villa Park.
