Juventus seeks €250M capital increase amid Manchester City legal battle
Juventus has announced plans to seek shareholder approval for a capital increase of up to €250 million (approximately $283 million) by the end of 2026. The move aims to strengthen the club's capital base, improve financial sustainability, and support strategic property upgrades, including its stadium in Turin. The club reported a loss of €66 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, an increase from the previous year's €58.1 million loss. Exor, the holding company of the Agnelli family and a major shareholder with roughly 65% ownership, will support the increase by immediately injecting €60 million. Juventus expects further losses in the current fiscal year following its failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, though it anticipates gradual improvement over the next two years.
Separately, Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano addressed the ongoing legal battle regarding the Premier League's investigation into the club. Speaking at a European Club Association meeting in Copenhagen, Soriano stated that the legal process will take significant time, noting that the investigation began in 2018. He emphasized the club's intent to fight the charges and prove its innocence. Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also expressed confidence in the club's eventual vindication as the legal proceedings continue.
